In the chaos of modern life, our surroundings often reflect the busyness within. Clutter accumulates, drawers overflow, and shelves groan under the weight of possessions we’ve gathered over the years. That’s what Spring is for, a chance to reclaim your space, restore order, and rediscover the tranquility that comes with a simplified lifestyle.
In a world inundated with distractions and excess, decluttering isn’t just about purging possessions – it’s about reclaiming your time, energy, and mental clarity. It’s about letting go of the unnecessary to make room for what truly matters.
Let’s go over our three most important rooms: kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
Organizing the kitchen isn’t merely about tidying up; it’s about streamlining workflows, maximizing storage, and enhancing functionality. It’s about creating a space that inspires creativity and nourishes the body and soul.
These clear plastic bins are perfect for every pantry or kitchen cabinet, or even for your fridge. They have different compartments to hold packets, snacks, pouches, spice packets, etc.
Don’t we all have this one cabinet or lazy Susan with a hundred plastic containers and a thousand lids? I know I do. I think this lid organizer is pretty genius:
And these airtight food containers are so pretty, I would totally leave these out on my counter or on top of my fridge! But if you like everything tucked away, you can also hide them away in cabinets or your pantry.
These under the sink organizer work work for either kitchen or bathroom. Under the sink this can hold you cleaning products and in your cabinets you could use them to organize your spices or k-cups. Even baking needs or spreads & preserves.
And let’s talk about our crap drawers… We have one in the kitchen, correction: we have one in EVERY room. These drawer organizers will at least make them look less chaotic:
Bathrooms are usually not the biggest rooms of your house, therefore keeping them clutter-free and organized is a good idea. Here are some items that may help achieve that.
If you like your knick-knacks out, you may as well make them look cute in these clear containers:
And this hair dryer organizer hangs over your cabinet or linen closet door and keeps everything neat & tidy:
I love these lazy Susans for my cabinets too, it makes it super easy to get to your stuff without having to dig through the whole shelf.
Everyone should have one of these wall mounted shelves for my bathroom. You can hang it over the toilet and put toilet paper and Poo-pourit in it.
These are my favorite rooms to declutter. Especially when Spring is on its way I love to put my snow pants and thick winter coats in big vacuum storage bags and store them out of sight for a few seasons.
These over the door organizers work great for keeping a lot of loose items on the inside of your closet doors:
We also got some of these hanger extenders for our t-shirts etc.
If you have too many clothes, like myself, you may need one of these portable closets to put your winter wardrobe in while it’s summer.
And you could either pack away heavier winter duvets and sweaters in these storage totes and put them up on a shelf:
Or you can put them in these storage bags and use your vacuum cleaner to compress them to less than a quarter their size:
Let’s face it, reckoning with the clutter monster that’s been hibernating in our closets all winter is no small task! As the flowers bloom and the birds chirp, I find myself knee-deep in a battle of wills with my collection of mismatched socks and mysterious Tupperware lids.
Whether you tackle one drawer at a time, or are one of the brave ones that tackles a whole room at a time, decluttering and re-organizing will liberate your mind as much as your closets.
So, here’s to spring decluttering, where the only thing bigger than the mess is the joy it brings after it’s done!
