Dads are hard to shop for, agreed?  My dad already has at least two of everything. Fortunately, thanks to COVID and the panic-hoarders last March, I stumbled across the perfect gift. Nope, not toilet paper.  Hamburgers! Everyone was buying up all the meat so, when my husband saw that Costco had frozen hamburgers, he picked up a pack for my dad. It was love at first bite.  Now, he is getting a package of hamburgers every year.  Dad, if you are reading this – surprise!

  • All kidding aside, a lot of men like their meat. A stocked freezer for a summer of grilling is not a bad idea.  Check out the your local market and/or butcher shop for any package deals. Many will even slice and individually wrap steaks if you buy 5+ lbs. Omaha Steaks is offering several great deals for Father’s Day too.  Throw in a grilling utensil (and/or a new grill depending on your situation) and it’s a gift that can be enjoyed all summer long.

  • After a year being stuck at home, maybe the men in your life are looking to GET OUT. Or perhaps YOU’RE looking for them to get out.  Regardless, gift cards for golfing, the shooting range, or local entertainment/adventure attractions (think trampoline parks, rock climbing, zip-lining) or the latest “escape room” craze – are all worth considering.  He can hang out with the guys or make it a family event.  Plus, many of these businesses had a rough 2020 so supporting them is a bonus.
  • Is it fair to say that finding the perfect hat to men is an equivalent to women finding the perfect pair of jeans (or did we all give up and commit to leggings by now)? If so, try Melihttps://bit.ly/3ptch1gn.  First, what a fun name.  Melin. Melon. Get it? Anyway, their ballcaps receive great reviews as does their customer service.  Several of their premium features include: lightweight & breathability, resistant to sweat-stains, water-proof, hidden besom pocket (aka- a pocket behind the front panel). There are multiple sizes and styles to choose from.  If the men you are shopping for like hats, I think they are worth looking into (btw – they sell women’s hats too if interested).

If you are short on time, no worries.  We have several ideas that can be delivered Prime-Time, aka within 2 days:

  • This ArmorAll Complete Car Care Gift Pack will make his ride (and potentially yours) look shiny and new!  It even comes with a bonus of 4 air fresheners. Cleaning is a lot more fun when you have new supplies to try out.

  • Walmart has the highly rated and very popular BlackStone Griddle Cooking Station for $197 with free  wo-day shipping (!) if you can grab one before they sell out. Dad can cook all your food on the top, with minimal dishes to clean after.  Win-win!

  • Still stuck for ideas? Most popular stores have Father’s Day coffee cups.  Grab one with the applicable title (Dad, Papa, Grandpa) and fill it with his favorite candy.  Target has a great selection for $5, like this one:

  • If you are looking for an even less expensive, yet totally thoughtful idea, buy a notebook.  Have your little ones write personalized notes in it: their favorite activity to do with Dad, the funniest thing Dad has ever said, what movie they liked watching with him, etc.  Moms tend to keep a lot of handwritten notes so it is precious for dads to have some too. This is especially cute when the kids still spell phonetically.  Then bake a homemade cake  (his favorite flavor, of course) with help from the Littles and – done.

Every dad is different so every dad’s gift can be too.  In my opinion, the important thing is to celebrate all he does for your family and honor him how he would like. If he loves running, take him shopping to buy a new pair of kicks. If he is a bookworm, a trip to Barnes & Nobles, coffee and browsing would be great.  Heck, if he works hard all the time, he may not even want a present, he might just want a day off of chores…but, friend to friend, I suggest you still get him something little too. After all, everyone likes to feel special at least sometimes, even the manliest of men.
